Comment on Blessed Are the Peacemakers by Wendy Scott https://bahaiteachings.org/blessed-are-the-peacemakers/#comment-70601 Mon, 03 Nov 2025 20:30:19 +0000 https://bahaiteachings.org/?p=88387#comment-70601 I like the words to the song: “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.” Also, I really prefer this translation of what Jesus said: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” We see the results of NOT being peacemakers everywhere these days. Let’s hope we don’t make the mistakes some of our fellow citizens are making. Both the Bible and the Bahá’í writings make it clear that unity and peace are what we should strive for in our own lives, setting a good example of human behavior that can counter the rancor we see in many these days. Thanks for the reminder.

Comment on Do You Believe in Free Will — or the Will of a Creator? by Ian Digby https://bahaiteachings.org/believe-free-will-or-will-creator/#comment-70595 Sat, 01 Nov 2025 16:09:29 +0000 https://bahaiteachings.org/?p=67976#comment-70595 The weird thing about arguing that there is no free will, is that in expressing such a view one is only acting from determination, in other words from some greater Will.

And we can all see the result of this fetishizing and idolizing of money.

Comment on What’s Respectful this Halloween? by Wendy Scott https://bahaiteachings.org/whats-respectful-halloween/#comment-70589 Sat, 01 Nov 2025 01:01:18 +0000 http://bahaiteachings.org/?p=44850#comment-70589 Interesting! I didn’t know Australia didn’t celebrate Halloween. Sometimes I wonder why we do in the US. 🙂 I do like the fall colors, though, and decorating with little pumpkins. It’s nice to know we’re free in this Faith to participate in such events if we want to. I give out treats to the kids when they come by. They’re awfully cute.

Comment on If We Want War to End, We Need Women to Lead by Wendy Scott https://bahaiteachings.org/we-want-war-end-need-women-lead/#comment-70588 Sat, 01 Nov 2025 00:34:25 +0000 https://bahaiteachings.org/?p=78812#comment-70588 This is one of the reasons I was so attracted to the Faith. Who can disagree with this? And it is a unique feature of the Bahá’í Revelation that women are recognized for their spiritual qualities and are considered equal with men in their rights and status. When the two wings of the bird of humanity are of equal strength, with their complementary qualities, we can fly!

Comment on Do Baha’is Believe in Life After Death? by Wendy Scott https://bahaiteachings.org/do-bahais-believe-in-life-after-death/#comment-70551 Mon, 27 Oct 2025 07:49:43 +0000 http://bahaiteachings.org/?p=18948#comment-70551 Thanks, Maya, I especially like what you said about not thinking of this life as a waiting room. That would be conducive to a pretty dull existence, it seems to me. Of course, now that I’m pushing 80, it can seem like that in a way, although I’m quite involved in various things in this world. Still, you can’t help but wonder what it’s going to be like. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá said we should meditate on the next world—an interesting proposition since we don’t have a picture of it in our minds.
