And please pardon my typos. There’s no way to edit them, alas.

One of the main ideas I take away from the guidance from the Universal House of Justice and the National Spiritual Assembly of the US is that we have to with what we’ve got. I think you would agree that many parents theses days are lost in one way or another when it comes to their role in teaching their children how to live in the world. They can’t teach what they don’t, themselves know. I think you might also agree that teaching children how to behave in a community (which a school is) is at least as important as teaching them physics or literature or math. I was most fortunate. My parents were amazing exemplars of ethical and loving behavior. Not all children are that fortunate.

We were taught social interaction at home and were expected to follow the rules. If a breakdown in said rules occurred at school, we were sent home and parents advised. Expecting our educational system to shoulder the responsibility for same, amounts to a questionable transfer of parental rights and responsibilities! Social development skills are best taught before a child engages the educational system. I see no advantage in needlessly exposing children to specific historical human inadequacies as there are enough current ones to contend with.
