Deborah, a very worthy question. I can only imagine that this will be each person’s experience of life and of the torturous journeys of much of humanity whether in our sexual lives or in the physical dimensions of slavery, torture, war and famine. There seems to be little choice for so many except for survival so I can only imagine that each soul is unique and each soul has a direct relationship with God and within each context God has a special loving relationship with that person and that is perhaps the only thing necessary is our individual relationship with God. I am only thinking as a parent who will love her children no matter what and forever and who will always understand them and try to be there always for them with Love.
